February 8th has been designated by the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and the International Union of Superiors General as an annual day of prayer and awareness against human trafficking. There are more than 40 million people who have been affected by human trafficking worldwide, and thousands of individuals are trafficked across U.S. borders and forced into slavery each year.
