Human Trafficking experts agree that there is an uptick in human trafficking around big sporting events but they want to caution us not to get lulled into thinking that it is an issue that can be addressed on only one day of the year.
Every year as the Super Bowl draws near, those who are concerned about human trafficking are accustomed to reading articles about the connection between big sporting events and sex trafficking. This year, Polaris and other groups are sending the message that the solutions to this problem require steady attention to strategies beyond encouraging hotels to train their personnel to recognize trafficking, helpful as this may be.
